Avenue North

1600 North Broad Street, Philadelphia

After two previous developers were unsuccessful, Tower Investments, Inc. received final selection as the project redeveloper by the Redevelopment Authority of Philadelphia for the two city block property in 2004.  It is the largest private development in the history of North Philadelphia.

The Entertainment/Retail component, known as The Shops at Avenue North, includes a seven screen multiplex movie theater on the second floor of the 90,000 square foot building.  The theater complex - The  Pearl- , now AMC is the first movie theater in North Philadelphia in 40 years. On the first floor is an array of retail and commercial tenants including Bank of America, Qdoba Grill, and Foot Locker. 

The Student Housing component, The Edge at Avenue North, is a 256,000 square foot, 12 story residential facility which houses over 1,200 Temple University students. The first floor includes 10,000 square feet of retail space. 

The development is entering its next phase which is construction of a standalone 12,000 square foot Rite Aid along Cecil B. Moore Avenue scheduled opening Spring 2021.
